Privacy Policy
This policy explains the information nobal.news collects during stealth beta and how we use it to operate the Service.
Last Updated: July 9, 2026 · Effective Date: July 9, 2026 · Version: 2026-07-09-stealth
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your name if provided, username, email address, password hash, account timestamps, plan/role information, and acceptance of the current Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
When you request beta access, we collect your name, email address, role, optional message, source path, referrer, user agent, and acknowledgment of this Privacy Policy.
When you use the Service, we may store saved algorithms, Canvas content, preferences, article history, social relationships, blocks, chat messages, avatar files, feedback, support communications, and technical logs needed to operate and secure the Service.
2. Interest Graph and Reading Activity
Your saved algorithms, hidden-source choices, Canvas notes, reading history, and similar product choices can reveal sensitive interests. We treat this interest graph as sensitive personal information.
We do not sell, rent, license, or productize your interest graph. We use it to provide the features you choose, debug or secure the Service, comply with valid legal process, enforce our Terms, or defend legal claims.
3. Cookies, Local Storage, and Embeds
We use essential session cookies for login, authentication, CSRF protection, and security. We also use browser localStorage for settings, theme choices, startup view, Canvas drafts/backups, and article history.
Some content may use third-party embeds. YouTube video embeds use youtube-nocookie.com where possible. X/Twitter embeds may load scripts from platform.twitter.com when you view embedded posts.
4. How We Use Information
We use information to provide accounts, authentication, beta access, email verification, password reset, saved algorithms, Canvas persistence, social features, search, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, security, support, and Service improvement.
We do not use personal account data, reading history, or your interest graph to train AI systems. Semantic search and article embedding features may use an embedding service such as Gemini to process article or query text; personal account data and your interest graph are not used for model training.
5. Service Providers
We use service providers for hosting, database infrastructure, transactional email, rate limiting/cache infrastructure, logging, and embedding/search infrastructure. These providers receive only the information needed to provide services to us.
We do not currently use third-party analytics for stealth beta. If analytics, paid subscriptions, Stripe payments, SMS, push notifications, mobile apps, or school/institutional accounts are offered later, we will update this Policy or provide additional notice as appropriate.
6. Sharing and Legal Requests
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information to service providers, to comply with valid legal process, to protect rights and safety, to investigate abuse or security incidents, or as part of a business transaction with notice where required.
Where the law permits, we will try to notify affected users of legal demands and object to requests we believe are improper or overbroad.
7. Retention, Deletion, and Choices
We retain account data while your account exists and for a limited period afterward where needed for security, backups, disputes, or legal obligations. You may delete your account from account settings or by contacting us.
You may request access, correction, deletion, or other privacy help by emailing wz@nobal.news. Because we do not sell personal information, use targeted advertising, or use sensitive information for secondary purposes, sale/share/targeted-advertising opt-outs generally do not apply to our current practices.
8. Children, Security, and Contact
The Service is not intended for users under 13. If we learn that a user under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete the account and associated personal information where required.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including HTTPS in transit, hashed passwords, secure authentication tokens, restricted access, and logging. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure.
Questions, privacy requests, or security concerns should be sent to wz@nobal.news. Mailing address: nobal.news LLC, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.
